There are many reasons why teachers decide to teach and students decide to learn English, but one thing they have in common is that motivation is a huge key in either's success. If the teacher is motivated by a genuine love of teaching and a true desire to help their students succeed, that will show in their work and their students will be more likely to learn the language. Similarly, if the students are motivated by a genuine desire to learn English, for whatever reason, they will be more focused and dedicated, thus making them more likely to fully absorb the lessons taught by the teacher. Both parties must be engaged for this process to work. There will be differences in culture, learning styles and methods, age, and length of attention span, therefore the teacher must pay close attention to the specific needs of their class and modify their teaching accordingly in order to be effective.
