This unit gave an introduction to lesson planning and a sample lesson plan was provided. A blank lesson plan was also provided, should new teachers want to use it. The unit explained the purposes of lesson plans and what a good lesson plan should include. The importance of being fully prepared for a lesson was also touched on.
It was noted that a lesson plan should not be rigid and any teacher should be ready to make changes as a lesson requires during class time.
I learned -- realized -- the importance of a teacher being very confident in grammar and vocabulary skills. Having a 'mental bank' of potential activities is also important, I think, so that lessons can easily be changed on the fly to suit student and lesson needs during lesson time.
