I understood this grammar lesson much better than the one in Chapter 4, because it was clearer and there was less confusing syntax to absorb. For someone who got a degree in writing and Journalism, being a "wordsmmith" all my life, I have never had issues with grammar or proper usage of it! However, reverting back to elementary school and the reasons for speaking correctly, sentence structure and the myriad irregularities in the English language makes me feel I should take a course in "English for Dummies"!!!
Am I the only native speaker who feels this way???!! Pray that I will be able to clearly and confidently explain all this material to my students ( while secretly having a "cheat sheet" in my pocket!!):)
