This unit was very useful as I was able to use it to refresh my grammar skills. It was particularly interesting to see the rule about ordering adjectives from size to age to color to material, etc. This isn't something one thinks about in concrete terms, and I can imagine it would be difficult to describe to a student without knowing it yourself. The unit also covered definite and indefinite articles, verbs (transitive and intransitive), adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. Reading about countable and uncountable nouns was informative and enlightening. I would have found it difficult to come up with a list of uncountable nouns before reading this. The section on gerunds was also very helpful. I learned the technical term for using the -ing form of a verb as a noun. Of course, I use them all the time when I speak English, but now I can actually explain them to another, non-native speaker. Above all, I learned how much there really is to absorb and memorize for the student. There are so many irregular forms. It is so important to have a good working understanding of grammar if you want to teach English, in order to answer any questions the student might have and inspire confidence.
