The primary teachings that I took from the content of this unit are the two forms of productive skills in language use. I found the section to be very useful for future teaching lessons because it is important to be able to accurately and fluently produce the newly acquired language. I really enjoyed the section on creative writing because it is important to allow children to practice the new vocab at their own rate/ pace. I also really liked the section that discussed the different ways in which a teacher may encourage student interaction as well as why some students may be reluctant to participate in classroom discussions and activities. Lastly, I think it is very important to acknowledge that students all have different interests. As the teacher, it is our responsibility to vary topics and speak to all students interests in order to ensure students find the material interesting and motivating. Students success rates at learning a new language are directly correlated to how motivated and interested the student is in the topic being taught/ discussed.
