The introduction of vocabulary words was more extensive than I imagined. It opened the word study to include more than the meaning, pronunciation, and usage in a sentence, to how and when to appropriately use the word. Its category, what form of grammar, and its interaction with other words make the study thorough.
The introduction of grammar structures was also interesting. What the language means, and how it is used by teacher's modelling enlarges the students' understanding. Its pattern of usage, would easily lead to looking its it grammar usage in contexts. Then, the teacher could introduce choral drilling, gap fills, and sentence building.
I would understand more clearly the difference between grammar form and pattern of usage, if more examples were given. I would need to look at a lesson in more detail to be clear.
