Again, I feel this lesson was too confusing for me. I feel that to use these rules in explainingproper English usage is simply to addmore grist to themill of the poor foreigners trying to understand English, much less the rules that go with every noun, verb, adjective, sentence, etc. As a teacher, I will never get into all this detail with my students but, rather, emphasize the use of language structure in a conversational manner, without all the why's and wherefore's involved in their usage! It isnot important,in my humble opinion to know why something is the way it is, anymore than it is who created the sily rules in the first place! When I moved to Italy, I learned conversational Italian by simply listening snd speaking, with many errors, but well enough to be understood and appreciated for my efforts by the locals! Italian grammar books and texts nor classes were part of my daily use, and I learned to read papers in Italian, books, listen to the news, etc by absorbing and immersing myself completely in the language! I plan to teach English the same way: complete immersion into the language from Day One, without all the unnecessary mumble jumble of grammatical structure, tenses, and and rules that only serve to delay the process of absorption, understanding and fluency in speaking, with is my ultimate goal, afterall!!
