Unit 18 is a grammar unit covering three major grammar areas: phrasal verbs, modal verbs and the passive voice. Each are worth hours and hours of lesson time with students.
In this unit I learned to be careful in the lessons to highlight how each phrasal verb can take an object, and whether it can take an object at all. I was reminded that, considering the large number of phrasal verbs in the English language, phrasal verbs should be covered in small numbers at a time and should be tied together by topic or common usage area.
By studying this unit I was reminded of how much I enjoyed teaching the Passive Voice. I found it easy to teach if subjects and objects had been taught thoroughly first. The students usually found it to be a 'meaty' grammar point and always dug into the lessons.
