Grammar is obviously something extremely difficult to explain to students especially when there are so many rules and, as often, "exceptions" to those rules. Making the learning of grammar fun with activities and games is a great way in my opinion to help teach grammar. Although obviously there are rules to be respected in English grammar, there are ways and words to make the understanding easier for the student. Depending on the level of the student, for example if they are beginners, you shouldn't try to give too much daunting information straight away in your lesson. Take things step by step, make sure they have understood what you are saying before moving to the next point of grammar. If not it will be easy to loose the interest of the student and make him or her feel as if they will never make it. Maybe even reassure them if they are finding it a bit overwhelming by telling them that even most of the English themselves don't know EVERY rule that exists, but that explained in an easy comfortable way, they are sure to soon get the grip of all the key rules that they must know.
