In the English language, words can be considered as the smallest elements that have different meanings. Based on their use and functions, words are classified into several types or parts of speech. In this unit, I have learnt about the eight major parts of speech in English grammar: noun, pronoun, article, verb, adverb, adjective, conjunction/preposition, and gerund. In fact, the same word can be a noun in one sentence and a verb or adjective in the next. So, it means we should always look not at the separate word but at the whole sentence to get its role.
