Unit 3 teaches the various methods and techniques which are used by TEFL teachers in the classroom. The most common methods and techniques are:
Grammar translation, Audio-lingualism, Presentation, Practice and Production(PPP) ,Task-Based Learning, Communicative Language Teaching(CLT), The silent way ,Suggestopaedia and The Lexical approach.
There no write or wrong method, but it using the method that is efective depend on the evironment which includes your personality, studends level, culture etc.
Jeremy Harmer developed an effective method for teaching that incorporates features from the methods above. This method is known as ESA (Engage, Study and Activate). ESA helps to motivate students, expose them to the language and give them an opportunity to use it.
This unit also talk about correction technique, the different between a mistake and an error, who corrects: self correction, student correction and teacher correction which is the last correction.
