i think the most important factor to emerge in both this and the preceding unit is the emphasis on motivation. Whether the roles are receptive or productive, each one involves communication, which must have a purpose if it is to be at all meaningful. Personally, I have found this to be most difficult with young adults, probably because the materials at hand are not particularly inspiring or even relevant. Hence the advice on on-line sources are especially useful. Despite the differences between the speaking and writing, this unit reinforces my believe that the productive skills should be taught together. The link between pronunciation and spelling is, i believe, a critical factor here.
