This unit desribes different kinds of teaching equipments and aids that can be used to make lessons more interesting, effective and less dependent on the textbook and provides ways to effectively use these equipments and aids. They include; the board, visual aids, overhead projector, videos, etc. The board can be used for writing, drawing, sticking things on, etc. All board work need to be planned and organized. An overhead projector has many advantages; it focuses students attention; it can be prepared in advance and helps the teacher avoid having his/her back to the students when doing board work; etc. However, some OHPs can be complicated to set up and the size of the classroom and the position of the screen have to be considered when setting up an OHP. Visual aids can be real objects, pictures or photos that help illustrate meaning more quickly to students.
