Teaching productive skills is a key factor of second language acquisition. However, in Chile the country where I am from, it seems that most teachers focus on the usage of grammar, accuracy and receptive skills. Therefore, as a teacher I must apply what was taught in this course to make the difference.
From my point of view, this unit is very useful. To improve the level of English of our students we must work the 4 skills together in class (reading, writing, speaking, listening). If we focus only in 1 skill or in only accuracy activities our classes will not only get boring but also predictable. Consequently, our students will learn only by memory and not by a personal desire of developing their English language skills.
