This unit covers past tenses including past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. To distinguish each form, the auxiliary verbs in their past form are important. Like in present forms, perfect forms need past participle of the verb and continuous forms need present participle of the verb. I have learnt that the usage of each tense should be taught properly along with its formation in order for the students to know why and when to use the sentence they make. The 'story making' with or without prompts and 'finishing the sentence' are two of the activities to be planned in the activate stage of a lesson. The irregular verbs, past participle forms of the verbs and the contract forms of the negative sentences are to be practiced in the study stage of a lesson.
