Having a lesson plan is always useful for the teacher, especially when you want to mesure time. If you know that being strict and unflexible is bad, then a lesson plan should not be seen as an enemy; it gives you the steps to follow, it works as a reminder when you could finf yourself a bit lost. I have never seen lesson planning as something bad, but the importance relies on bearing in mind that circumstances can change everything from one moment to another. It is not that we are going to throw the lesson plan into the bin, but rescue what can still be used in the rest of the lesson. More than a plan with rigid steps, I see it as a map when you can take certain ways. Of course, keeping the pre-while- post (engage,study,active) must have a logic.
