This unit covered evaluation and testing. I learned about different kinds of testing such as placement, progress and achievement tests. Progress tests should measure all four areas of learning; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Practice exams help the students prepare for external exams and usually follow a similar format for the expected external exam. I learned about the difference recognized external English exams such as TOEFL the American English exam and TOEIC the most popular exam in Japan and South Korea. There are several Cambridge assessment exams which are globally recognized.
