This unit presents two lessons taught in different ways. In the first lesson, the teacher is less sensitive to the needs of the students, making it ineffective. His attitude does not encourage student participation, thereby there is little interaction between him and the students. The language of instruction he uses is higher than the language level of the students and he does not use pictures, gestures or mime to help students understand. There is no student to student interaction since must activities are done individually.
The second lesson is more effective than the first. It follows the straight arrow ESA method The teacher's teaching procedure and materials are well organised. He has a more positive and engaging attitude which encourages students to participate. He also uses pictures, gestures and mime to help students understand.
I learned from this unit that the attitude a teacher comes into class with will determine the success of the lesson.
