The methodologies of teaching are varied and diverse. It is important to incorporate as many methods as possible in order to foster student interest. Relying on the same strategy continuously will become mundane and cause students to lose focus. All lessons should be based on an ESA plan. This means Engage, Study, and Activate. Variations of this, such as a Boomerang Lesson, would rely on these three concepts while shifting them through the lesson. Engage, Activate, Study, Activate, for instance. The lesson begins with engaging the students then follows by introducing an activity that stimulates learning. Study focuses on the intricacies of the language and corrects errors then we move back to activate. How and when we employ the various methods depends on many factors. As I read through the unit, I tried to imagine practical applications for the methodologies. I am acutely aware of my own inexperience, so some of the strategies stuck out for me more than others. Student centered lessons, for example, are enticing for a first time teacher who is hesitant to lead lectures on a daily basis.
