I found it difficult to understand the difference between Present Perfect and Past Perfect tenses. The trick is that Present Perfect uses the form of subject, aux. verb "have" and the past participle (verb + ed) The Past Perfect tense uses the form of subject, aux. verb "had" and the past participle (verb + ed). Example sentences: They have shopped all day. This is Present Perfect. Have is a present form of the aux. verb. They had shopped all day. This is Past Perfect. Had is the past form of the aux. verb. The video that came with this lesson really cleared some points up for me on this.
