Teaching pronunciation and phonology discusses the importance of its uses in the English language. Because our language is not strictly phonetic it often is very difficult to learn. The teacher has an important role in encouraging the students to practice and try for correct pronunciation. This chapter points out that teachers initially have difficulty because they too are unaware of the intonation and stress of words and sentence. It has provided useful suggestions and also useful websites and apps that can be helpful in teaching the different sounds. It is up to the teacher how they would like to include pronunciation in their lessons. Although it is often under taught I think that most students who want to learn a foreign language have the desire to communicate and connect with other people therefor it is extremely important that the student walks away feeling confident in not only having a wide vocabulary but also knowing he/she can correctly pronounce what needs to be expressed.
