Very interesting unit, I do think it's a really long unit with a LOT of information in it to be digested all at once, especially considering that this isn't necessarily going to be taught to students (especially very young students), that said, I found the content incredibly interesting on a personal and theoretical level. It's good to have a basis for how we make language sounds. The unit goes over everything from how we intonate a sentence and what different intonation patterns mean, how we form sounds in our mouths including where we form them (place of articulation) and how the sound is made (manner of articulation) as well as the difference between voiced and unvoiced sounds. I like that there were different ways pointed out for a teacher to point out or stress different aspects of pronunciation and that it was noted that pronunciation topics can be done in any amount or manner really that the teacher sees necessary, though pronunciation should definitely be included in lessons at some point. Also, it was cool that the phonetic alphabet was taught here, though sort of crazy that it's expected for us to have learned it by the time we finish the unit, that could take slightly more time than given here. It is nice that this was pointed out though, because having had experience with a tutor student who was familiar with the IPA and not being familiar myself, it was a very pertinent thing to point out that it would be wise to learn because it is true that students may potentially have knowledge of the alphabet and may expect that their teacher does as well, in which case it's good to be prepared, even if you don't plan on teaching it, though the unit did express the benefits of teaching it to students also.
