This unit considers the importance of assesment and evaluation. There are four types of tests designed for learners: 1) placement tests (help to assess students' knowledge before they start a course); 2) progress tests (evaluate students' strengths and weaknesses during the course); 3) diagnostic tests (are given at the vary begginning of a course to help the teacher to find out what the students already know in order to plan the future lessons); 4) practice tests (help students to get prepared for the external examination while they are designed to follow their structure).
There is also such format of assessment as external examination.
