My prior teaching experience includes teaching dance to children, teaching self-defense to adults, and teaching firearms safety to adults. With all of my prior teaching experience, I have found preparation to be amongst the most important. Preparation shows that you know the material and are an expert in that area. It allows the students to trust the information you are delivering. Because of this, I found this lesson to be extremely valuable. Lesson planning, while it comes in many forms, is the backbone of each classroom. A specific portion of this lesson that I found helpful is that a certain amount of flexibility must be built into the lessons, as not everything usually goes as planned. This flexibility allows the teacher (and students) to have fun with lessons and go off-script.
