In this unit I was prompted to think about the types of materials that can be used in a classroom to enhance the learning of students. For task four I was asked to compile a list of five items I would chose to have in my classroom. For me, the most important, versatile tool is a computer with strong, reliable internet access. Besides a whiteboard this tool is the single-most useful tool for learning and exploring, especially other cultures. The internet gives students access to cultures a world away through YouTube, email ect. A computer can be used to look up words, generate content in Word or PPT and most computers have video cameras and microphones.
The equiptment available to a teacher is highly dependent on the economic level of the school. A rural school may not have internet access and this should be taken into consideration when planning lessons.
