This unit was about past tenses; simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous. From this unit I learnt that the basic forms of the different aspects the tenses are the same. "To be" + "verb" + "ing" for continuous, and "to have" + past participle for perfect. The exact forms of each aspect was given, as well as the usages of each. Irregular verb forms were given in a table, as they have to be studied. Typical student errors were covered, and ideas for the activate stage of the lesson were discussed. The likely confusion between tenses and their aspects were mentioned, eg. how the tenses are different depending on whether the exact time of an action is known, or whether it is around a time, as with past continuous and past perfect continuous. From this unit I learnt more about the complexities of the tenses, and how to impart this knowledge to students.
