This unit was about conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are sentences containing "if", of which there are 5 types, namely zero, first, second, third, and mixed. The form and usages of the different conditionals were given and discussed. The possible student errors were given, including confusion of the tenses and structures. Ideas for teaching conditionals were given. Reported or indirect speech was elaborated on. A table for the changing verb tenses was given. The way the pronoun can change according to the context was explained, and a diagram was given to illustrate how backshifting changes the time expressions. This unit taught me that there are many possible errors with reported speech, and it is best to go slowly. Ideas for teaching indirect speech was given.
