This unit covered the theories, methods, and techniques of teaching a language. The various methods were listed, and the pros and cons were discussed. From this I learnt that with learning another language, immersion is best. From the teaching methods I learnt that the best lessons are constructed using more than one method. The ESA method was discussed, and examples of lesson plans provided, including many ideas for each phase of the lesson. The best activities for different levels of students were included as well. I learnt the importance of feedback, and when to give it. It is best to keep feedback positive, to encourage students to experiment and learn. Codes for correcting written work was shown. In this unit the basics of how to teach were discussed.
