These two videos are about ESA lesson simulation.
They present two different ways to lead a lesson.
In the first video the teacher arrives in the class and starts asking question to students that don’t understand what is trying to get from them. He immediately passes to Study phase skipping the Engage phase.
He writes on the board the grammatical structure of modal verbs even in the wrong way( without apostrophe for can’t and don’t). He has not supportive material at hand. He erases the board with a hand.
Then he hands out worksheets to students without outlining for the activity’s purpose.
He doesn't check them during the lesson but he looks at his mobile.
In the activate phase he starts a mill drill activity without explaining to students how to do . STT is very short.
In the second video he enters the class with a completely different attitude. He introduces himself and asks for students’ names creating a different atmosphere. He elicits information from students and writes it down on the board in the Engage phase . In the following stage ( Study) he hands out worksheets to students after giving a demonstration of the exercise and divides them in pairs . STT is longer
He checks students’ mistakes . Then in the activate phase students do a mill drill activity showing their understanding of the grammar point.
