This unit covers, what makes a good teacher, and what makes a good learner. Among some of the attributes listed for being a good teacher were: having kindness and patience, being a good motivator, and having a good understanding of their subject matter. A good learner is described as being: willing to ask questions, willing to experiment with the language, and can take correction.
Unit one also covers the potential roles of the teacher at various points in a lesson, and different types of learners. Some of the roles a teacher might take are: Manager, Organizer, Facilitator, Model, Assessor. The breakdown of the different roles of the teacher was, I think, quite helpful for myself in increasing my own awareness in the role of teacher, and helps pinpoint different approaches one might take to a lesson at some point in the future depending on the aim of the lesson.
