This unit is very straightforward, fairly intuitive, and not really teachable, though still usable for the teacher. There are different types of activities that can be used to monitor student progress throughout the year, and there are other exams and tests that can be given for other purposes, such as placement, diagnostic, external (for certification for example), progress, and for practice. While it is important to know about all of the different kinds of exams that can be given to students, it would also have been nice to have gotten information on some of the other, less formal ways of monitoring student progress throughout the year. The very beginning of the unit talks about things as informal as games being given to monitor student progress and it would have been nice to get some information and ideas on these less formal methods of monitoring and evaluation.
