This unit seems very intuitive, and maybe not always so useful, especially as it sounds like if there is a course book, the teacher will have no control over what it is. The parts about how to 'work with what you've got' and how to use a course book effectively even when it's not a terribly good book were interesting though. Basically, when it comes to using course books, use your best judgement, don't rely on them and continue to be active and creative in your lesson planning, don't get lazy and just lean on them for everything, omit, adapt, replace, and supplement course book lessons and materials as needed. As for other materials, they are always a good idea to use to keep things interesting, but use them purposefully, not just as a fun distraction for the students.
