This unit helped me gain tools on how to not only understand concepts that need to be taught but also how to go about teaching them to students. It is one thing to be able to understand what needs to be taught, however knowing which approach to take for different areas of language learning is an extremely difficult one. As touched on in previous units, all classrooms are unique and present different challenges, therefore, there is no straight answer in how to teach. While this is a challenging concept, the topics covered in this unit gave me the tools which will help me convey important topics such as teaching approaches for vocabulary, which ESA teaching structures are most beneficial for particular topics, and provided examples on how to incorporate these styles into lesson plans.
