This Unit was simple but good. It just opened my eyes a little bit to show much how sometimes English speakers change and complicate sentences. And just how many different ways and words can be used to explain thoughts, reasons, and what someone said or asked. This Unit was complicated at all, but I do still have to think about how I can go over a lesson plan with this. And I am grateful it gave me some great ideas, but this is no simple structure, and difficult to learn for none English Native speakers.
I do want to say I do NOT appreciate some of the example content used in this Unit. Such as, "Would you be willing to murder an innocent person if it would end world hunger?" or "Bunker Role-Play (The game is a great idea! But why not use applying for a college, rather than only one space in a bunker left, like "If you except me, I will graduate with a doctors degree"). I understand as teachers we have the right to choose the context we use, but I know that many TESOL Students like myself will refer back to these Units for lesson planning, and it leaves the wrong idea in the head. What I mean, is we should NOT talk about violence to kids or teenagers because it encourages violence and selfishness. Rather we should consider developing great personality traits on top of teaching English. And deferentially having bad context in the Unit leaves the mind thinking the same way, I even had to catch myself from writing similar context in the Tasks. So, I know it may sound stupid, but I believe it is NOT necessary and should be changed.
