This unit covers the four present tense forms - present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous - and gives examples of each, how they are formed, exceptions for specific verbs or types of verbs in each form (where necessary), their usages, common student mistakes with creating sentences with each form and examples of Activate lesson stages that can be used to practice each form. Although I do like to focus on grammar in my lessons at present, and this is therefore something I teach often, I've found this lesson to be very helpful in reminding me of all of the usages of each tense, so that I can better lay this out to my students in the future. It has also provided great ideas for activities that are both suitable and fun for practicing each form, which will be incredibly helpful in my planning of future lessons that involve present tense grammar points. I often like to spend time with my students (when possible) explaining some of the common errors that are made with these tense forms, mentioning how I can understand why these errors are made and how they can be corrected, and I will use the information from this unit to continue to improve upon this process with regards to the present tense.
