I enjoyed taking a break from the reading to be able to reinforce what I think I know in the demonstrations given in the video lessons. I particularly appreciated that the video contained adult learners because they are also my target demographics. I found myself scribbling several notes throughout both presentations for me to be aware of the future in both what not to do and what to do. Like the students, I found myself dissatisfied and confused by the performance of the instructor in the first video and it served as a key lesson to me to always watch out for non-verbal communication that indicates I am not doing a good job of conveying my message. The example video was filled with those kind of cues that were ignored. While I understand that this was done on purpose to prove a point for the lesson, it made me realize just how easy it might be to accidentally miss or dismiss that key feedback. This unit also made me think more about how to structure a class and I took note of the little things I appreciated in the second video such as the practice sentence already being written up on the board. Those little things go a long way in to keeping the students engaged and the coursework effective.
