This unit gave me an opportunity to plan out how I want to teach the past tense based on the complexities of their categories. I'm realizing that the most emphasis is placed on the actual verbs. Rather than solely focusing on the grammatical structure, I saw that relying on the action and the time it took place is what gives the learner a guide on how to formulate displaying the correct verb forms. Again, this is not how I organically learned the different, so seeing the usage of each type of past tense shows me how to break it down to ELLs starting with regular and irregular verbs.
