While reading this unit I found the most similarity in the ways in which I was taught a second language in the classroom. I think without the standard ESA layout, learning a language is extremely difficult. I have had little luck studying a third language outside of the classroom without the opportunity to engage, study, and activate with other students and a teacher. While reading this unit I was able to expand on what I studied in unit 3. I was able to think more critically about how to set up an ESA style lesson with individual categories, (Vocabulary, Grammar, etc.). While taking the exam, I've realised I feel a little confused between the study and activate lesson areas. For example, doing a crossword or gap-fill activity should be more of a study, but for a moment I was thinking they could be used to activate. However, now I'm seeing it more in terms of, activate should allow the students to practice the language verbally.
