The primary thing I have learned from this unit is that the Engage, Study, and Activate (ESA) structure for planning classes and activities is quite useful because it is comprehensive and flexible. It allows students to warm up, closely examine the language, and experiment and play with the language to further push their knowledge of its usage. It is flexible in the sense that activities that fall under either of these categories can be done in different orders as necessary, but the separation of each category allows for clear understanding of tasks. For example, it is clear to students when they are expected to focus on the language aspects being learned, and when they are to be more creative and use the language on their own.
