This unit gives an overview of the future tenses, as well as other formulations that are used to express future meaning. The main thing I learned from this unit, aside from the specifics of each tense, is that future tense usages are highly relative. Their differences are slight, and a lot of the time their usages overlap. The main difference between many of them is the viewpoint of the speaker in terms of time. For example, in the future perfect continuous, we are looking at the past from a point in the future, even though in our present time it is still the future; in the past perfect continuous, we are looking at the past from a point in the past, even though we are still talking about the past. Usages also depend on the certainty with which actions will be done: "I'll go" could be an on-a-whim decision made during a conversation, while "I'm going" sounds much more definite and with purpose.
