This unit perfectly mirrored the present tenses unit, but instead focused on the four forms of the past tense. Each section on the past tenses reviewed the form of the tense, followed by the usages of the tense. The usages included examples to illustrate that usage. Then the unit pointed out possible errors that students may make when using these tenses. Finally, a few activities for teaching each of the past tenses was suggested. My past experience and education meant that this unit was mostly review, but it seemed to be easier to understand than the unit on present tenses. Whether this was because past tenses has a more limited scope of uses or because I am more familiar with their grammar, I do not know. I would have liked more activity suggestions beyond storytelling, which seemed to feature in every form of the past tense. However, I will likely use card games to help teach the irregular past tenses in the future.
