In this unit, we are taught how best to approach our very first class lesson. It is not a good idea to start off right away with the course book as it might make them intimidated. Start with warmers, little activities and get to know your students first, establish rapport. There will be students who are not so keen on participating right away so you have to make the class interesting enough so they let loose a bit and roleplaying or pair work will make them more comfortable faster. Listening texts can be confusing to some students, therefore it is best you pre-teach potentially difficult vocabulary so that when the text plays, they would have a general idea of what is going on instead of thinking what could that word mean and lose track of the rest of the story.
