Receptive skills are something that I had never considered dealing with in my own language. I thought these were skills that naturally form as we teach/learn, not that they were an area we could specially focus on. However, after reading this unit and looking back on my own classes from primary school and comparing them to the ESA format, this is definitely a skill that we worked on every class.
I like that this type of teaching can really involve the students by mixing up materials. Not every class should have the same theme and allows both the teacher and the students to be creative in the topics. I believe the area that would be most difficult, at least for me, would be to make sure that I don't spoon feed my students when it comes to pre-teaching material. I will have to allow my students to take more interest in self learning to allow them the best success. I will have to focus on the main points and just make sure I am available for any questions.
I also felt like this lesson I had a better understanding of how a lesson plan should flow then I had before in a unit that I didn't perform so well on. So I hope that my lesson planning understanding is improving. We'll see how the grade shows.
