Section 7, teaching new language, consists of teaching vocabulary, grammar, and functions.
Teaching vocabulary is the introduction of new words .Selecting vocabulary words are based on the appropriacy to the student, appropriacy to the task, frequency and coverage. Vocabulary is fun. Engage the student with objects and material from everyday life. This could become a large scale show and tell. Pictures and mime action is often used. Discovery, discussion, and contrast make this section a fun process.
Studying activities are filled with fun exercises such as gap-filling, word searches, crosswords and matching. Drilling and study from text is perhaps a bit less appealing, but remember school work is hard work.
Real pleasure is obtained through activation, putting it all together and actually using the language in communication. Vocabulary is a great area because rapid growth can take place in a short time.
