This unit has looked at a basic skill in learning a language; the receptive skills (reading and listening) is very important and this unit has explored ideas of how to include it in a teaching session, it has talked about reasons and motives such as when we read and listen for a purpose or when we read and listen for entertainment, and how these reasons have different impact on our understanding. It has analysed the different special skills needed to grasp information fast without having to read word by word and still understand the concepts, these include predictive skill, scanning and skimming. It has shown the problems faced with listening and reading and how to approach them. From this unit i have understood how to approach this skill into practice by using the ESA methadology, and different activity ideas to help elicit students to develop interest on topics to learn.
