This unit gave me good insight on how to receive my students. I have always thought about the question, "what makes a good teacher?", but hardly thought much about the question, "what makes a good learner?". I am now able to understand that how well a teacher can understand and provide to their student's needs can really impact on the type of learners that the students become. The unit also gave me more insight into the differences between teaching adults and the various categories of young learners. Originally, I had often thought that adults would be easier to teach simply because of their personal motivation to learn and their wide array of experiences. However, now I am aware that adults also have some areas that a teacher should be concerned about. Such as having their own set ways in which they expect to be taught. I am seeing that a teacher must be even more flexible than I originally thought in order to meet the various needs that their students have.
