This unit was surprisingly a lot more difficult than the first unit on tenses. I had thought that because I had a decent understanding of how tenses worked in the present, that studying past tense would be simple and follow a similar structure. However, I didn't realise that past tenses usages could be so similar, yet so different. When I saw this was a short chapter as far as reading goes, I was sure it would more or less be a review type on tense. However, I had to dedicate a good amount of time to it. It's interesting to study this particular grammar, as I don't believe I have ever been taught about past tense in such detail. This was all new information for me, so I can imagine how my students may find this material extremely difficult when being taught. I am planning to come back to this lesson to review and brainstorm ideas that would be most beneficial and easy to remember on how to identify each past tense.
