This unit covers how to introduce different types of language to students (vocabulary, grammar and functions), the important factors to consider when selecting what and how to teach them, examples of different activities for different types of language at each lesson stage and examples of ESA-type lesson plans for each type. As with previous units, this unit has been the most helpful to me in respect to how one might tackle various aspects of language teaching with different approaches and activities. When teaching, I usually put a lot of thought into WHAT I want to teach my students, but have sometimes felt a bit lost as to HOW I should best teach them this new point (or how I want to reinforce something they already have some awareness of), particularly with different levels of ability. The material provided in this unit has been extremely useful in outlining the ways in which a teacher may go about this - the task sheet activities for planning different ESA-style lessons with a set topic were very good in getting me to think about how I would personally approach these, so this will be something I continue to consider and experiment with in my teaching.
