I have learned the basic characteristics of good teachers and learners. I have also learned the various roles a teacher can play in the classroom, to help motivate and encourage the students to learn and improve their English. The times when the lesson may be teacher-focused and when it may be more learner-focused.
I also learned the definition of the basic levels of ESL abilities and skills from beginner to advanced.
