This unit starts first by introducing EFL methodology, it shows all method and techniques used worldwide, which ones are used more than other. This unit mainly focus on the ESA(Engage, Study, Activate) methodology which shows that is more effective than others,also the unit highlights the definition of ESA phases, examples of useful activities for each phase. At the end, the unit covers matters about correction techniques and lesson Planning.
In this unit, I learnt a very good methodology for teaching English to different levels, I learnt how it is extremely important to know features of every stage of ESA and how to differentiate. For example, correcting mistakes is mostly used in the study phase and shouldn't be used that much in the other phases, because in the engage phase we want to get students interest and involvement, and in the activate stage, we want more to get the students practice what they have learnt and a fun and entertaining way.Another thing I learnt is about correcting, especially using codes for writing correction, this really helps students to first provide the effort themselves and not count directly to teachers also remember the mistakes they made. I also learnt how it is very useful to diversify the ESA method in order to avoid student's predictions and boredom without forgetting the importance by always starting by the engage phase and conclude by the activate phase.
